We've got an old old old black and decker handheld hoover thing (10+ years old) whihc just doesn't seem to have the Oompf required to do much. The battery doesn't seem to hold much power, so I barely make it through the car, and it doesn't even pick up much.

Are the newer ones better in actual power and how long they last?
